Character Description

Physical Description:
Doug has a messy mop of auburn hair atop his big, goofy head.  He doesn't have any readily visible birthmarks (unless you happen to be looking at his butt, but that's personal).  He has big, dull green eyes the color of a healthy spruce tree.  Upon his brow sits a pair of big fuzzy caterpillars that may or may not be eyebrows.  He's short and broad for his age, but isn't exactly fat.  His dad always wanted him to play football, but the boy's passions laid elsewhere, and so as an effort to begin getting his kid outside and active, they sent him on his pokemon journey.

He can often be seen in all manner of hawaiian-style shirts and prefers shorts to full-length pants.  They're comfy and easy to wear, he says.  But in actuality, he tends to sweat a lot.. so he needs all the air circulation he can get.  Sandals are his thing for much the same reason. 


Mental description:
Douglas has always been a bit of a nerd for Pokemon.  Ever since he could read, he has always dreamt about becoming a Pokemon professor and traveling the world. His first book was about the "Very Hungry Caterpie" and it's really only gotten worse from there.  

He is meticulous and easily frazzled when things go awry, but he's shy enough to hide his quirks until he really knows someone.  He likes to hum under his breath and spaces out easily when he isn't getting direct mental stimulation, like from a book.  In fact, it's not uncommon to see him just walking along with his nose in a book, humming some tune he heard somewhere.  He runs into things a lot.


Origins:
Born and raised in Cerulean city, the Fir family comes from a long line of people who didn't amount to much. His father works at the local poke-mart, his mother is a homemaker.  His maternal grandparents run a pokemon daycare nearby that Doug spent most of his childhood assisting with.  He was always a couch potato, but the moment his mom said that he could play at Grammie's, he was up and ready to go.  Being an only child, both his mother and her parents babied him well into his early teens, but recently his dad has been trying to get him to take things more seriously. 

There wasn't much to the boy's life before he headed out on his pokemon adventure.  He sat around reading about pokemon, or watching pokemon television shows.. or occasionally playing a pokemon video game.  His family thought that he should probably get some other hobbies, but he was adamant in his pursuits and as such, nothing really stuck.  So, when his father "coerced" him into actually doing what every other kid these days was doing, Douglas naturally packed his bags and went on his way.

Because of his father's new take-charge attitude, the boy has begun his pokemon adventure with his new, equally lazy Bulbasaur (who was affectionately christened Chunk because his spots kind of make him look like a green chocolate chunk cookie).  The digimon is stubborn and headstrong, unlike his carefree and ditzy trainer.  But you know what they say, opposites attract.  So now, the duo continues onward into their destiny.
